Red Velvet is a five-member girl group formed by SM Entertainment, made up of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri. They debuted as a quartet on August 1, 2014 with the single "Happiness", and Yeri joined in March 2015. Mixing bright pop hits such as "Red Flavor" and "Power Up" with smoother R&B releases, they topped the Gaon Digital Chart several times and in 2018 became the first K-pop girl group to perform in Pyongyang. Wendy and Yeri left SM in 2025 but stayed in the group, and all five returned together in August 2026 with the EP Velvet Summer.
